Introduction & Overview

Art Village Karjat is an eco-farmstay, artist sanctuary, and boutique nature haven located in Hatnoli village near Karjat, right next to ND Studios. It is designed as a space to pause, look within, and celebrate indigenous knowledge, creative arts, and sustainable earth-building practices.

Conceived by artist Ganga Kadakia, nurtured by Kiran Vaghela, designed by Studio Dot, and brought to life by the renowned Hunnarshala Foundation of Bhuj, the village features earth-built cottages, an organic Farm Cafe, a refreshing swimming pool, a dedicated pickleball court, and expansive organic fruit orchards.

History & Cultural Background

The core philosophy of Art Village is the "A Cube" collaboration: Artist, Architect, and Artisan working together in harmony with the local environment. Every building in the village is constructed from natural mud, lime plaster, recycled wood, and thatch, using time-tested vernacular Indian architectural techniques.

The sanctuary is home to Brahmand, an earth-domed meditation pavilion, alongside studios for pottery, natural dyeing, printmaking, and woodwork. It regularly hosts artist residencies, monsoon children camps, and sustainable farming workshops.
